JBL GT5 car audio loudspeakers

Loudspeaker specialist JBL, Inc., presents the brand new GT5 loudspeaker series at the IFA 2007. The excitingly-styled GT5 loudspeakers are suitable for all price-conscious car audio fans who wish to upgrade their cars with genuine JBL sound, without costly installation. The new loudspeakers are of an easy-to-install design and are comparable even with significantly more expensive models in terms of sound. In addition to the sound quality, particular attention was given to an attractive design. But even in the inexpensive price segment, not only appearance
JBL GT5 loudspeakersThe new tweeters are provided with an elaborate titanium coating for crystal-clear, linear treble. Thanks to the angled and rotating UniPivot mounting, the treble reproduction of the coaxial systems remains superb, even for unfavorable installation positions. The component systems are equipped with outboard crossovers and are supplied with comprehensive installation accessories for the edge-driven 25mm tweeters.

JBL car audio - GT5 loudspeakersExceptional in this price category are the intricate ventilation grilles in the loudspeaker housing. They guarantee perfect ventilation and effective heat dissipation from the voice coil. The result is minimized harmonic distortion at high output power. Of course, all GT5 loudspeakers are also equipped with our patented PlusOne diaphragm. By means of complex mounting of the rubber seam, JBL maximizes the effective diaphragm area and thus achieves a higher output level in the bass range.

JBL Sound System

JBL Cinema Sound Speaker System By Mark Fleischmann •
The well-tempered speakers.
Some speakers start communicating immediately. Ten seconds after I got these JBLs started, I was engrossed. Before I set them up, I'd just gotten halfway through the first disc of Vladimir Feltsman's hard-to-find four-disc set of Bach's The Well-Tempered Clavier. Having just rearranged my reference system to better visual and sonic advantage, I was loath to pull it apart again, but duty called. The Cinema Sound speakers simply picked up where my reference speakers left off. They sounded neutral, substantial, and well able to keep up with both the recording's shifting dynamics and its liquid beauty.
Just because a speaker has morphed into an agreeable shape doesn't mean it will sound good. Slim towers rarely move me. Usually, they sound thin. What probably makes the difference in the Cinema Sound speakers' case is what's inside the tower.
JBL has endowed the Cinema Sound with what they call a HeatScape motor structure to dissipate heat during high-volume blasting. They use Neodymium magnets, which aren't exactly cheap, in both the cones and domes. The woofers are constructed of PolyPlas, a polymer-coated cellulose fiber, and they're in both the towers and the center for better power handling. The tweeters are JBL's titanium laminate—that's titanium deposited on a lightweight GE Ultem substrate. Titanium (laminated or not) is a JBL tradition. No matter how a JBL speaker is voiced, it always has a clear, blue-sky, "I can see for miles" treble. These materials will be familiar to any JBL buff, but rarely has JBL so cleverly deployed them in such a good-looking speaker.

Sony brings two DVDirect Handycam-to-DVD writers to the US
by Darren Murph, posted Jan 7th 2009 at 7:18PM
While it's certainly not the most invigorating release from Sony today, those stuck with too much video on their Handycams will be head over heels. The firm is expanding its DVDirect line by two, and while one of 'em (the VRD-MC10) has been released in Japan previously, this marks the first time it'll ship to American consumers. Said unit incorporates HDMI, component and composite inputs, and features the ability to transfer AVCHD-quality video to DVD; it also includes an i.LINK (FireWire 400) port as well as a USB socket for use with a wider range of devices. Moreover, the MC10 touts a 5-in-1 multicard reader for taking flash-based media straight to DVD, and the 2.7-inch LCD is just fine for previewing things beforehand. The DVDirect Express VRD-P1 DVD writer is tailor made to work quickly and easily with some of Sony's newly announced camcorders, and the lack of advanced functionality means it'll only run $150 (compared to the $300 stick on the MC10) when it ships in March.

Freestyle Audio has made one super tough MP3 player that’s built to handle just about any extreme activities you can dish out. They show examples of using it while surfing, swimming and they have a video below showing it being dropped off of a 3rd story building onto concrete (they drop and iPod nano as well). The results of the video shows the Freestyle MP3 player turn on, but it really doesn’t say if it still plays music. Either way the fact that it didn’t break apart and still powered up is impressive.
Features of the Freestyle MP3 player are nothing spectacular - On/Off, Volume and skip ahead songs in the loaded media. It has associated software for managing music and works with a Mac and a PC. The DMP comes is capacities of …

iphone

It was a perfect brand-new 3G iPhone -- for 21 days, 10 hours and 22 minutes. I loved it, read books on it, praised it on Jacket Copy.
Then I dropped my iPhone -- it slipped! -- from about three feet, and it hit the sidewalk. Apple's design gurus had miscalculated -- one fall and the screen shattered across the top corner. Little bits of glass began to chip away.
The Apple store had bad news. The only way to replace a cracked iPhone screen is to buy a whole new iPhone.
You might think a component like a broken screen could be replaced -- nope. And AppleCare, the company's extended warranty plan, doesn't cover accidental damage. Alex in customer service said it was sad, but that nothing could be done. It was like the time he bought a brand-new car only to have someone immediately ding it in a parking lot. Um, no -- not the same thing, really, unless he had to replace the whole car.
How many other iPhone customers have shattered the screens of the month-old 3G? Hard to say. Apple's press office wouldn't: "I don't have that information for you," was the representative's response.
With 23 months left on the AT&T contract and a cracked iPhone, what's a Mac lover to do? Pony up another $299 for a new iPhone 3G, of course, and hope that the American Express buyer-protection plan comes through. Also, buy a bouncy protective case. And maybe adapt some mitten clips so it never falls again.

Fujitsu U820 GPS-book with Garmin Mobile PC Software

It seems that the netbook is predestined to overtake advanced functions, which phones, handheld gadgets and especially laptops cannot keep up with. The latest example is the Fujitsu U820, a mini 5.6-inch netbook that combines a mobile internet PC and GPS navigation. The U820 backs on Garmin’s Mobile PC software and provides powerful mobile computing while checking the ideal road to a specific destination. The Garmin-Fujitsu GPS netbook comes preloaded with maps of the U.S. and Canada. Fujitsu targets professionals and GPS enthusiasts with the new U820 that will go on sale for $1050 (£660).
Features of the Fujitsu U820 netbook. It’s powered by an Intel Centrino Atom processor and comes with up to 120GB hard drive or 64Gb solid drive if requested. Although the GPS netbook is small the 5.6-inch gadget offers an improved QWERTY keyboard (U810) with an extra set of rows as well as a zoom utility. Power consumption is an issue be it with netbooks or GPS navigation systems. The U820 backs on a four-cell battery that allows 7.5 hours of operation after all. Alternatively, a two-cell option is available, but battery life drops down to 3.5 hours.
The Fujitsu netbook is also dubbed as the Garmin Mobile PC, although there’s a bigger version too. Garmin’s GPS software supplies many points of interests and enables turn-by-turn directions and advanced route planning. Other computer highlights include a Crystal view touchscreen display, WLan 8802.11a/b/g/draft-n, fingerprint sensor and BIOS lock as well as a 1.3 MP webcam, and wireless broadband (from 2009). Additionally, there is a Kingston lock slot to deter thefts. The netbook weighs in at just 590g.
Last but least, the Fujitsu U820 netbook has preloaded Windows Vista Business or Home Premium on board.

Linksys WUSB300N USB Wireless Network Adapter - 300Mbps, 802.11n (Draft N), USB 2.0

Network Adapter is the simple way to add wireless connectivity to your notebook or desktop computer. Just connect it to your PC's USB port and enjoy incredible high-speed wireless network access, at unheard-of distances distances.
The Wireless-N USB Network Adapter uses the very latest wireless networking technology, Wireless-N (draft 802.11n). By overlaying the signals of multiple radios, Wireless-N's "Multiple In, Multiple Out" (MIMO) technology multiplies the effective data rate. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce "dead spots" in the wireless coverage area. The robust signal travels farther, maintaining wireless connections up to 4 times farther than standard Wireless-G.
With Wireless-N, the farther away you are, the more speed advantage you get. It works great with standard Wireless-G and -B equipment, but when both ends of the wireless link are Wireless-N, the throughput can be increased even more by using twice as much radio band, yielding speeds up to 12 times as fast as standard Wireless-G.
Once you're connected, you can keep in touch with your e-mail, access the Internet, and share files and other resources such as printers and network storage with other computers on the network, wherever you wander. At home, you can surf the web or use instant messaging to chat with friends while sitting out on the patio. You'll also be able to connect with any of the growing number of public hotspots springing up in coffee shops, airport lounges, hotels and convention centers. Your wireless connection is protected by industrial-strength 256-bit encryption. The included Setup Wizard will walk you through configuring the adapter to your network's settings, step by step.
The incredible speed of Wireless-N makes it ideal for media-centric applications like streaming video, gaming, and Voice over IP telephony, and gives you plenty of headroom to run multiple media-intense data streams through the network at the same time, with no degradation in performance. Get connected to Wireless-N, Wireless-G, and Wireless-B networks with the Wireless-N USB Network Adapter from Linksys.

Linksys WRT54GS Wireless Router

Wireless Access Point gives the unique option to connect Wireless-G or Wireless-B devices to the network. The 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch even lets you connect wired-Ethernet devices to this router. You can connect up to four PCs directly. There is a Router function that lets you share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection and other resources. This saves you time and money, by not having to buy separate devices to perform these actions. The Router Functionalities are VPN Pass-Thru and DHCP Server. It has a fast Ethernet speed with the LAN standards of IEEE 802.3 CSMA/CD or IEEE 802.3u 100 Mbps. The firewall features include Stateful Packet Inspection, Content Filtering and Port Filtering. The LED indicators include WAN, WLAN, Diagnostic, DMZ, Activity and Link. The router also comes with a one year warranty. From a Gadget Addicts perspective, the router has a very secure connection, which is important in todays world. It also has many great features and is really easy to install.

Fax Machine

Fax (short for facsimile, from Latin fac simile, "make similar", i.e. "make a copy") is a telecommunications technology used to transfer copies (facsimiles) of documents, especially using affordable devices operating over the telephone network. The word telefax, short for telefacsimile, for "make a copy at a distance", is also used as a synonym. Although fax is not an acronym, it is often written as “FAX”. The device is also known as a telecopier in certain industries. When sending documents to people at large distances, faxes have a distinct advantage over postal mail in that the delivery is nearly instantaneous, yet its disadvantages in quality have relegated it to a position beneath email as the prevailing form of electronic document transferral. It can be represented in Unicode by ℻.

Plotter

Pen plotters print by moving a pen across the surface of a piece of paper. This means that plotters are restricted to line art, rather than raster graphics as with other printers. Pen plotters can draw complex line art, including text, but do so very slowly because of the mechanical movement of the pens. Pen Plotters are incapable of creating a solid region of color; but can hatch an area by drawing a number of close, regular lines. When computer memory was very expensive, and processor power was very limited, this was often the fastest way to produce color high-resolution vector-based artwork, or very large drawings efficiently.
Traditionally, printers are primarily for printing text. This makes it fairly easy to control, simply sending the text to the printer is usually enough to generate a page of output. This is not the case of the line art on a plotter, where a number of printer control languages were created to send the more detailed commands like "lift pen from paper", "place pen on paper", or "draw a line from here to here". The two common ASCII-based plotter control languages are Hewlett-Packard's HPGL2 or Houston Instruments DMPL with commands such as "PA 3000, 2000; PD".
Programmers using FORTRAN or BASIC generally did not program these directly, but used software packages such as the Calcomp library, or device independent graphics packages such as Hewlett-Packard's AGL libraries or BASIC extensions or high end packages such as DISSPLA. These would establish scaling factors from world coordinates to device coordinates, and translating to the low level device commands. For example to plot X*X in HP 9830 BASIC, the program would be

Scanners is a computing device that analyses image like photograph and printed text then coverts them into digital images. When buying computer scanners, pay attention to the specifications, such as resolution, bit depth, type of sensor, interface and optical density. Look for computer scanners with at least 300 dpi; the higher the pixels, the better the image. There are different types of scanners, such as drum, desktop flatbed, handheld, sheet-fed, rotary, fingerprint, planetary and 3D scanners. Drum Scanners are the oldest of all the computer scanners. Make sure your computer scanner the best software needed for your jobs. Most scanners come equipped with basic, but generally weak—image-editing software. Upgrading to a more advanced program may be necessary to enhance your capabilities.

Flatbed scanners are also called desktop scanners. These are the most commonly used scanners. Sheet-fed scanners are similar to flatbed scanners with the exception that the document is moved and the scanner is immobile. The handheld scanner uses the same basics as a flatbed scanner, but rely on the user to move them instead. Drum scanners are mainly used by the publishing industry to capture detailed images. You can also find scanners that are also a printer, it is concerned a all-in-one.
Computer scanners may interpret symbols as letters or punctuation, and will not be able to understand the text within them. But for digital still pictures, from scanners or digital cameras, there is just one image recorded.
There are hundreds of Adware deletion programs on the push. Your best bet is to go to a place like Spybot Download It lists the best Adware Removers presently on the push. Or just google the speak "adware remover". Like I said, you'll find hundreds. Some are good, some aren't. Free Spybot is a great situate for you to see which ones work, but I know some of you just like to google, and that's approval too ;). Just get one, I feel bad having to current so wholly for something so nominal.

Xerox Photo Coppier

A photocopier (or copier) is a machine that makes paper copies of documents and other visual images quickly and cheaply. Most current photocopiers use a technology called xerography, a dry process using heat. (Copiers can also use other output technologies such as ink jet, but xerography is standard for office copying.)
Xerographic office photocopying was introduced by Xerox in the 1960s, and over the following 20 years it gradually replaced copies made by Verifax, Photostat, carbon paper, mimeograph machines, and other duplicating machines. The prevalence of its use is one of the factors that prevented the development of the paperless office heralded early in the digital revolution.
Photocopying is widely used in business, education, and government. There have been many predictions that photocopiers will eventually become obsolete as information workers continue to increase their digital document creation and distribution, and rely less on distributing actual pieces of paper. However, photocopiers are undeniably more convenient than computers for the very common task of creating a copy of a piece of paper.

Epson Projector EX70

Those who tote around a portable projector for presentations will appreciate this one. Connecting to your computer with a VGA or DVI cable is very clumsy. The great advantage of the Epson EX70 is that you can connect via a USB cable. There are maybe one or two other projectors that can do this. If you want that convenience, check out the Epson EX70 for $799. You’ll like the fact that a USB cable is pretty easy to carry with you rather then a DVI or VGA cable. It makes setting things up a breeze.
The WXGA 1,280 by 800 resolution will go good with widescreen notebooks and the EX70 is easy to carry around. You can even show presentations without a computer, using an SD card or a USB drive. All of the ports are easily identified. Even a monkey could do it.Setting it up is easy. When you first connect to your computer via USB, the projector installs the software. After that, a moment later the image of your desktop shows up on the screen. Then you can adjust the zoom and focus via 2 rings on the lens. The focus is overly sensitive, at least in the unit we reviewed. I had a hard time getting things crystal clear and always felt like things were just a bit fuzzy.
The EX70’s range is on the short side so it should be placed a little closer to the screen than most projectors. It should be mentioned that it seemed ultra bright with it’s 2,000 lumens. Great for the office lighting conditions.
Bottom line when it comes to presentations: It’s a great projector for the office setting.
Watching movies on the Epson EX70 didn’t fare so well. Everything I tried to watch at a largish size failed. First I tried viewing some DVDs via the USB cable. Everything was full of lag and choppy. Not at all like the awesome experience I had with the MovieMate 55. Once I used the Component video cable instead, it cured the choppiness and one could watch a movie, however I seemed to be getting a strange line on the screen in either case. Once I took the video down to 480 size, everything seemed fine however.
As far as watching movies on the Epson EX70: It will do it’s job as long as the image is small.
Sound was pretty disappointing. It didn’t want to pump out room filling sound like the MovieMate 55. However that may have been my laptop that I tested it on.
Movie issues aside, this is a fairly good projector for the office. It will do what you need it to do from not too far away.
